Making the decision on who to use as your wedding photographer is a very personal choice. The most important aspect of that decision should be based on the photographer's work and liking what you see. It's not always easy knowing exactly what style you want, so taking the time to research different photographers will help narrow down your choice.  To give a head start, I've outlined below a few points that I hope answer the initial questions I've been asked over time.

1. Photography style - While I am quite a traditional photographer, I am not overly formal. I base my wedding photography on capturing the day's events in a ‘reportage’ style. This makes your day a very memorable occasion with the images creating their own story along the way, particularly as so many of the little things can pass the bride and groom by.

2. Working with you - In addition to covering the wedding day itself, I like to get to know the couple I’m photographing; it makes it much easier for us both. The most important part of being a wedding photographer is taking the pictures that you really want, as well as the formal groups and families. Part of my getting to know you will include an engagement shoot in the months leading up to the wedding day. I call it part of the planning process and it means we can discuss the detail of what you do (and don’t) want on the day. One tip that comes from this is for you to choose someone who, on the day, will be in charge of making sure that those who need to be photographed are in the right place at the right time!

3. Behind the scenes - Throughout the day, I will document the behind the scenes moments from early preparation in the lead up to the ceremony and reception. Having asked you a myriad of questions ahead of your day, all the answers are documented so I can be almost invisible on the day, photographing your story without having to direct operations (other than perhaps the formal group shots), letting the day unfold naturally, capturing the magic along the way.

4. Your wedding pictures - Once the wedding day itself is over, I aim to get a few ‘sneak peek’ social images to you within 24/48 hours and sample prints delivered within two to three weeks.  Once I have completed editing the wedding images, they will be uploaded to a password protected website gallery within three to four weeks, so they can be shared with friends and family.

5. Costs - I try to keep my costs competitive and where weddings take place within 50 miles from my base in Hampshire, travel is included.  Thereafter I charge a standard 45p per mile. Prices start at £1,200 which covers the engagement shoot, optional rehearsal and wedding day as well as editing, sneak peek social images and a small collection of sample prints. Tailored digital and print package prices are available on request. To confirm the date, I ask for a small non-refundable deposit, with the remaining cost due four weeks before the wedding.
